About each option

Concrete · Standard (148 × 143 mm) Ref. SKIM-2-C
Standard skimmer for concrete pools, customizable, engineered for residential and professional use. Inlet opening 143 × 148 mm with a 1.5" outlet. It draws the surface layer where leaves, dust, oils and sunscreen collect, holds the debris in a removable basket ahead of the pump and keeps the suction line clear; the weir flap stops trapped debris floating back out when the pump is off. Cast into the pool wall at finished water level on the downwind side, one skimmer per about 25 m² of surface. The body can be supplied in custom colours or with an extended throat for thick wall finishes.

Concrete · Wide (300 × 185 mm) Ref. SKIM-2-CL
Wide-mouth skimmer for concrete pools, customizable, with a 185 × 300 mm inlet opening and a 1.5" outlet. The wide mouth takes in roughly twice the surface flow of a standard skimmer, so it clears leaves and floating debris faster on large residential and hotel pools, or where trees overhang the water. Cast into the pool wall at finished water level on the downwind side; the removable basket and weir flap keep debris from reaching the pump or drifting back into the pool. Supplied with body, basket, weir, lid and wall extension; custom colours available.

Liner · Standard (148 × 143 mm) Ref. SKIM-2-L
Standard skimmer for liner (vinyl) pools, customizable, with a 143 × 148 mm inlet opening and a 1.5" outlet. The flanged body and gasketed face plate clamp the liner between two faces, so the membrane stays watertight around the opening while the skimmer draws the surface layer where leaves, dust, oils and sunscreen collect. Debris is held in a removable basket ahead of the pump; the weir flap keeps it from floating back when the pump stops. Fix the body to the panel or block wall at finished water level, one skimmer per about 25 m² of surface, and cut the liner only after the face plate is screwed down.

Liner · Wide (300 × 185 mm) Ref. SKIM-2-WL
Wide-mouth skimmer for liner (vinyl) pools, customizable, with a 185 × 300 mm inlet opening and a 1.5" outlet. The wide mouth takes in roughly twice the surface flow of a standard skimmer, clearing leaves and floating debris faster on large liner and panel pools. The flanged body and gasketed face plate clamp the liner between two faces so the membrane stays watertight; the removable basket and weir flap keep debris from reaching the pump or drifting back. Fix at finished water level on the downwind side and cut the liner only after the face plate is screwed down.

Skimmers — frequently asked questions

Standard skimmer or wide-mouth?

The standard skimmer (SKIM-1, throat 200 × 140 mm, 15-litre basket, flap weir and vacuum plate) is the proven choice for most residential pools. The wide-mouth version captures a broader band of surface water per unit — specify it for large surface areas, heavy leaf fall from surrounding planting, or a prevailing wind that pushes debris to one end. The compact Mini Skimmer (SKIM-2, throat 148 × 143 mm) suits spas and small pools.

How many skimmers does a pool need?

Count from the water surface and the wind: every pool needs at least one, placed on the downwind side so the wind drives floating debris towards it, and large or L-shaped pools need more so no part of the surface is more than a few metres from a skimmer. Our engineers size the count from your pool drawing when you request a quotation.

Concrete or liner version?

Concrete versions cast into the wall shuttering and tile in flush with the finish. Liner versions (the -L models) add a flange and gasket set that clamps the membrane from both sides. The throat extensions SKIM-01 and SKIM-02 lengthen the throat where the finished wall thickness places the body further back from the pool face.

Can I vacuum the pool through the skimmer?

Yes — the standard skimmer ships with a vacuum plate. Lift out the basket, seat the plate, and connect the vacuum hose to it so the pump draws through the vacuum head. Set the multiport valve to Waste when vacuuming heavy dirt so it is not pushed into the sand bed.
