Lights

LED underwater lights for concrete and liner pools: niche lights, nicheless lights and replacement LED bulbs in 18, 24 and 36 W, warm white or cool white. All run at 12 V and must be fed from a safety isolating transformer, never directly from the mains.

Lights — frequently asked questions

Niche light or nicheless light?

The niche light (UWL-1 for concrete, UWL-1-L for liner pools) seats in a housing cast into the wall during construction and gives the classic recessed look; it takes the 18, 24 and 36 W LED bulbs. The nicheless range (LL-18, LL-24, LL-36) mounts flat on the wall with no recess, which makes it the fastest fitting for new builds and the simplest retrofit.

What voltage do the lights run on?

12–14 V AC only, fed from a safety isolating transformer in the plant room — never directly from the 220 V mains. The transformer provides galvanic separation between the mains and the water, and the fittings are sealed to IP68 for continuous submersion. Keep cable runs short to limit voltage drop.

18 W, 24 W or 36 W?

18 W for spas and small plunge pools, 24 W as the standard fitting for residential pools, 36 W where the pool is wide or deep and each fitting has to cover more water. Space the lights evenly along one wall, aimed away from the main viewing angle, for level illumination without glare. Warm white and cool white are both available.

How many lights can one transformer carry?

The 200 W safety isolating transformer carries five 36 W or eleven 18 W lamps at the arithmetic limit; specify it to about 80 per cent of its rating — four 36 W or eight 18 W — so the lamps see full voltage. Connect each light through a waterproof junction box above the waterline.
